onferences / workshops devoted to the education of patients, their families and general public, in collaboration with municipal social services, cultural and civic centers. The meetings inform participants about healthy life styles which will improve bone health and prevent fractures (diet, exercise, posture, alcohol in moderation and not smoking).

A bimonthly medical journal REVISTA ESPAÑOLA DE ENFERMEDADES METABÓLICAS ÓSEAS (R.E.E.M.O.) is edited by S.E.I.O.M.M. in collaboration with F.H.O.E.M.O. for the scientific community. The bulletin SALUD Y HUESO, especially devoted to the lay public and distributed by the Asociación Amigos de la F.H.O.E.M.O. (the Association of Friends of F.H.O.E.M.O.) is published four times a year. Other informative material (leaflets, patient guides, books, videos etc) such as is edited under the supervision of the scientific advisory board of F.H.O.E.M.O.

Various activities are conducted by volunteers who work for the Association Amigos de la F.H.O.E.M.O. to help patients in hospital centers by teaching fitness gymnastics to group leaders and sufferers of osteoporosis.

Available is made information for health professionals e.g. conferences & books, with emphasis on primary care. As part of this initiative a national meeting, the NATIONAL COURSE ON OSTEOPOROSIS for physicians and nurses is held each year.
